50 Out of 303 Pupils Escape Abduction in Niger State

Fifty of the 303 pupils abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Private Primary and Secondary School in Niger State have successfully escaped and returned to their families, just two days after the attack that also involved the kidnapping of 12 teachers.

The escape was confirmed by the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, who said the pupils went to their homes and have not returned to the school following their ordeal.

The incident has reignited concerns over the safety of students in northern Nigeria, where terrorist attacks on schools have been increasingly reported. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the abduction and continuing efforts to rescue the remaining students and staff.

This event underscores the pressing need for stronger security measures to protect schools and students across Niger State and similar regions
