Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has appealed to residents to take responsibility for protecting public infrastructure within their communities.
Speaking during an inspection tour of ongoing development projects in satellite towns, Wike emphasized the importance of community ownership in preserving the facilities being put in place by the federal government.
The minister visited sites including the dualisation of the Ushafa-Military Checkpoint Road and the War College Road in Bwari Area Council. He praised the progress of the projects and urged residents to help ensure their longevity.
“These projects are being executed with public funds to improve the quality of life in the FCT,” Wike stated. “It is important for communities to protect them from vandalism and misuse.”
He noted that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to infrastructure development across the capital and has invested significantly to provide modern facilities for residents.
Wike stressed that the sustainability of these developments depends on the cooperation of the people, urging them to take collective responsibility in keeping public assets safe and functional.
