Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed Mr. Li Zhensheng, a Chinese national, as Economic Adviser in a move designed to position the state as a rising hub for global investment and development.
The appointment was announced on Thursday in Bauchi during the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding between the state government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre.
Governor Mohammed said the agreement would serve as a catalyst for long-term cooperation across strategic sectors including agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade facilitation. The MoU establishes a broad framework for collaboration, with specific projects to be negotiated and executed individually.
As part of the arrangement, Bauchi will open a Representative Office in China to coordinate implementation, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
“This partnership goes beyond infrastructure it’s about transforming lives and securing the future,” Mohammed declared. “We are opening Bauchi to the world, attracting foreign direct investment, creating jobs, and building the skills that will drive our economy forward.”
He emphasised that the collaboration aligns with the diplomatic vision shared by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to deepen ties at both national and subnational levels.
Mr. Zhensheng, who chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to mobilise global expertise and resources in support of Bauchi’s economic transformation.
“Our commitment is to help Bauchi achieve sustainable growth, world-class infrastructure, and better livelihoods for its people,” Zhensheng said.
