China on Monday called for an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic engagement to end the escalating conflict in the Middle East, as hostilities stretched into a third day.

Speaking at a press briefing, foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stressed the need to halt military operations and prevent further regional instability.

“The most urgent task is a cessation of military operations and preventing a spillover of conflict,” Mao said, urging all parties to pursue “a resolution through dialogue and negotiation.”

Casualty Confirmed in Tehran

Mao also confirmed that one Chinese citizen was killed in Tehran amid ongoing strikes carried out by Israel and the United States.

The military operation reportedly targeted key facilities in Iran and resulted in the death of the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader, significantly escalating tensions in the region.

The situation has heightened global concern, with fears that continued hostilities could trigger broader instability across the Middle East.

China reiterated its call for restraint, warning that further escalation would undermine regional security and international peace efforts.
