JUST IN: Two Children Feared Dead, Others Injured in Kaduna Explosion

Tragedy struck the Abakpa community in Kaduna State on Tuesday as an explosion claimed the lives of two children and left several others injured.

The victims were identified as 13-year-old Imam and six-year-old Nasrin. Both children were reportedly in the vicinity of the blast when it occurred near the old site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene following the explosion, with residents rushing to assist the injured. One local, who requested anonymity, told our correspondent, “I was taking my bath when I heard a loud bang. I ran out and saw Imam. I tried to rush him to the hospital, but he passed away on the way.”

Three other residents were also injured in the incident, though the extent of their injuries remains unclear.

At the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the explosion had not been determined. Security operatives have since cordoned off the area and commenced investigations.

The incident has thrown the community into panic, with many residents expressing fear and confusion over the sudden blast.

Authorities have urged calm while assuring that a full probe is underway to uncover the cause of the explosion.
