The Lagos State Government has closed Myca 7 Court, located within Van Daniel Estate off Orchid Road in Lekki, over claims of pumping untreated sewage into public drainage channels.
In a statement released on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter), the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the enforcement was carried out by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) following multiple public complaints about environmental pollution in the area.
According to Wahab, investigations revealed that the estate had allegedly been using a pumping machine to discharge waste into public drains, creating both a public nuisance and a health hazard.
“The deliberate release of sewage into public waterways is unacceptable and poses serious risks to public health. Such acts of environmental pollution will attract strict penalties, including possible prosecution,” the statement read.
The commissioner reiterated the state’s commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all residents.
