The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off a property at 229 Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, over alleged discharge of untreated sewage into public drains.

Officials acted on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after investigations revealed the illegal disposal was polluting the environment, creating a public nuisance, and endangering human health.

Announcing the development on his verified X handle, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, described the act as a blatant breach of environmental safety rules.

“The indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into public drains is not only harmful to the environment but also dangerous to public health,” Wahab said.

He urged residents to embrace proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to protect the environment. The commissioner further warned that any acts of environmental nuisance or pollution would attract severe penalties, including prosecution.
