In a fresh move to drive sustainable growth and investment in Nigeria’s real estate sector, NEELDS Realty Limited held the second edition of its Property Development Dialogue on May 17, 2025, in Abuja.

The event, which served as a hub for knowledge exchange, attracted developers, investors, legal experts, and other real estate professionals to deliberate on pressing issues affecting housing and infrastructure development in the country.

A major highlight of the gathering was the formal unveiling of NEELDS Realty’s newest housing project located in Katampe Extension. The development is targeted at offering affordable and environmentally friendly homes to prospective buyers.

Addressing participants at the event, Chief Executive Officer of NEELDS Realty Limited, Abubakar Sediq Mohamad, pointed out that land access, poor infrastructure, and weak regulatory systems remain major setbacks to home ownership in Nigeria. He explained that the Katampe project was conceptualized to bridge these gaps by providing cost-effective, durable housing options that cater to a broad segment of the population.

Guest speaker and Convener of the Africa International Housing Show, Barrister Festus Adebayo, spoke on the challenges plaguing the real estate industry, particularly corruption. He disclosed that more than 70 percent of property-related cases in the Federal Capital Territory are riddled with irregularities. Adebayo urged developers to uphold transparency and ensure their projects align with Abuja’s master plan.

Also speaking at the event, legal practitioner Ridwan Idris addressed the legal risks in the sector. He drew attention to the country’s housing deficit, estimated at over 20 million units, and emphasized the need for regulatory bodies to play a more active role in overseeing real estate projects to safeguard the interests of both developers and property buyers.

NEELDS Realty’s Lead Architect, Agatha Christie, shared insights on the company’s design philosophy for the Katampe project. She said the plan incorporates eco-friendly features such as renewable energy, green spaces, and the use of natural light. According to her, the long-term vision is to deliver functional, modern homes that are well-suited to today’s digital lifestyle.

The Property Development Dialogue 2.0 served not only as a platform for meaningful conversations but also reaffirmed NEELDS Realty’s commitment to reshaping the landscape of urban housing in Nigeria. The event concluded with a shared commitment among participants to build a real estate sector that is inclusive, innovative, and better regulated.
