President has directed all political appointees in his administration seeking elective offices in the 2027 general elections to resign on or before March 31, 2026.

The directive applies to ministers, heads of government agencies, and presidential aides, as part of efforts to ensure compliance with electoral laws and promote transparency in the political process.

According to a circular issued by the (OSGF), the decision aligns with provisions of the and the timetable set by the (INEC) for party primaries.

The circular was signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, , and released through the Permanent Secretary, .
