In an interview with BBC Hausa, Gwarzo stated that he had not been accused of any shortcomings or misconduct. 

He noted that his role as a state minister was mainly supportive, with most duties managed by the senior minister.

Gwarzo shared that President Tinubu had personally informed him of the decision, citing an imbalance of political representation in Kano North as the primary reason for his removal. 

While Gwarzo and his team offered alternative suggestions, they were disregarded, leading him to suspect political motives behind the decision.

The former minister also voiced his disappointment regarding the appointment of Yusuf Ata, suggesting that Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the 2023 governorship candidate for Kano, should have been prioritized. 

He argued that Gawuna, being a leader in Kano Central, was a more appropriate candidate. 

Gwarzo pointed out that other states like Plateau and Zamfara saw their gubernatorial candidates appointed to federal positions, raising questions about the fairness of the process.
