Former Anambra State governor has denied allegations that his wife, , was involved in the demolition of a property belonging to a cleric in .

Dispute linked to unauthorized construction

The controversy followed claims by Pastor , who alleged that Mrs. Nwobodo orchestrated the demolition of his building under construction at Patson Estate in Independence Layout.

However, Nwobodo dismissed the allegations, stating that the issue stemmed from unauthorized building activities and violations of estate regulations.

Incident escalated during inspection

According to the former governor, the situation escalated on January 16 when his wife visited the estate alongside a landscape architect and a police orderly for a routine inspection.

He claimed that the estate gates were locked, preventing them from leaving, and that the police officer accompanying them was assaulted during the confrontation.

Pastor arrested, arraigned in court

Nwobodo further disclosed that Ogbuanu was later arrested at the while attempting to travel and was subsequently taken to the Independence Layout Police Station.

The cleric was later arraigned in court over allegations related to illegal construction and property offences.

Refund offer rejected amid ongoing dispute

The former governor maintained that the pastor continued construction despite being informed of issues surrounding land title certification due to government regulations.

He added that he had offered a refund to Ogbuanu, which was declined.

Nwobodo expressed disappointment over the accusations against his wife, insisting she acted in good faith and had no role in the demolition, while also noting that the actual party responsible for the demolition remains unclear.
