After more than a decade of delays, work has finally begun on the ₦750 billion primary infrastructure phase of Abuja’s Centenary City project. Construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has been contracted to deliver the first phase.

Phase One starts with a key access road spanning 4.3 kilometers and supporting infrastructure for The Grove Residences, Safari Park Residences, and The Ridge Villas. Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (DAR) are in charge of detailed engineering design.

Centenary City, envisioned as a smart urban hub, will eventually feature five-star hotels, a financial district, a convention centre, luxury residences, a safari park, and other world-class amenities. Thirteen five-bedroom terrace homes are already under construction.

The project initially valued at $18.5 billion was conceived as a legacy urban development for the Federal Capital Territory. Renewed support from the FCT Minister and the Minister of Housing & Urban Development has accelerated the revival under the current administration.
