Vehicles and motorcycles close to the facility also appeared to have been affected by the fire.

Fire Contained By Responders

The Federal Fire Service said the emergency response was swift, with firefighters working alongside other responders at the scene.

The intervention was particularly significant because the incident occurred at a gas facility, where a fire could potentially escalate if not quickly brought under control.

The extent of property damage likewise remained unclear.

The condition of the gas facility, surrounding businesses and vehicles could not be independently established from the information released by the fire service.

Authorities are expected to provide further details as assessments at the scene continue.

The incident comes as a reminder of the risks associated with fires around gas facilities, particularly in populated areas such as Kubwa.

For now, the confirmed information is that firefighters responded at about 6:30am, contained the blaze and prevented further escalation, while details about the cause, casualties and overall damage remain outstanding.

Jaji outlined the FFS’s plans to improve efficiency in 2025 by leveraging advanced technologies such as the National Fire Detection and Alarm System (NAFDAS) and the Fire Alarm App, N-Alert, to enhance emergency response and fire prevention efforts.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his support in approving the procurement of state-of-the-art firefighting equipment and the remodelling of the National Fire Academy. Jaji stressed the need for Nigerians to support the repeal and re-enactment of the Fire Service Act of 1963, which would help modernize the agency and enhance its service delivery.

The FFS remains committed to protecting lives and property across the nation through robust strategies, operational advancements, and public awareness campaigns aimed at minimizing fire risks.
