The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has launched a dedicated Housing Fraud Reporting Portal to enable Nigerians track and report fraudulent practices in the real estate sector.

This was contained in a statement issued by Badamasi S Haiba,Director Press and Public Relations, on Wednesday, 27th August, 2025

According to the statement, the web-based platform, accessible via https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng,allows citizens to submit complaints, upload evidence, and monitor case progress, thereby promoting transparency and accountability in housing transactions.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, said the initiative was in line with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which mandates stronger regulation of the sector.

“The policy requires government to establish an efficient regulatory framework to monitor housing delivery and ensure all professionals in the built environment are duly registered. This platform will shine a light on the activities of developers, empower Nigerians to report fraud, and restore trust in the system,” Dangiwa said.

He warned that sharp practices would no longer be tolerated, stressing that the Ministry will partner with professional bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary to ensure offenders face the full weight of the law.

The Minister commended the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the committee members, and consultants for their roles in delivering the initiative, adding that the ultimate goal is to create a real estate sector where Nigerians can invest and own homes “with confidence, free from fear of fraud.”

In his remarks, Deputy Director and Head of ICT, Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, disclosed that the platform was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He described it as a simple, user-friendly tool that ensures reports submitted by citizens will be carefully reviewed and acted upon by relevant authorities.

Dr. Amiolemen also announced the introduction of the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System (CPCPMS), an innovative application designed to strengthen oversight of housing projects.

The CPCPMS features include a real-time dashboard for visualizing project data, contractor performance evaluation guided by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), mobile field reporting for engineers and supervisors, and a centralized document repository for secure access to contracts, payment certificates, and bills of quantities.

He explained that both systems demonstrate the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and service delivery in the housing sector.

The launch event featured technical demonstrations by the consultants, Freestone Investments Limited and Prunedge Development Technologies Limited, who built the platforms.
