Former Ogun State Governors, Senator Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, have expressed their readiness to aid the federal government in resolving the legal issues surrounding the recent seizure of three Nigerian Presidential jets in France.

The jets were confiscated due to a contractual dispute involving Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd., a Chinese company, which has sought court orders over a 2007 contract with the Ogun State government.

Senator Daniel has pledged to provide crucial documents that could help Nigeria navigate the legal complexities of the case. He emphasized his desire to contribute to an amicable resolution rather than engage in media discussions, noting that addressing the matter through diplomatic channels is more beneficial.

In a statement released from his Media Office, Daniel clarified that while his administration had initiated the Ogun/Guangdong Free Trade Zone project, the current issue relates to a management contract termination, not the core agreement. He stressed that any public commentary could compromise Nigeria’s position in the ongoing legal proceedings.

On his part, Senator Amosun has offered his support to government agencies, expressing his commitment to ensuring that Nigeria is not defrauded by Zhongfu International Investment FXE or any other entity. Amosun condemned the unlawful attempt to seize Nigeria’s assets, calling it unacceptable and urging for a resolution that protects national interests.

Both former governors have highlighted their willingness to work with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant authorities to find a solution to this complex situation. They have called for a unified effort to resolve the dispute and safeguard Nigeria’s assets.

The dispute over the jets has drawn significant attention, with various stakeholders urging a swift resolution. The Ogun/Guangdong Free Trade Zone, established during Daniel’s tenure, remains operational and continues to impact the local economy positively.
