President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the ongoing economic reforms will soon yield results, describing the current hardships as temporary but necessary for building a stronger economy.

Speaking at the 40th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Ilorin on Thursday represented by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Temidayo Oladiji, Tinubu announced that UNILORIN will host one of the National Universities Commission’s Digital Innovation Hubs.

He said the hub would promote research, digital skills, and entrepreneurship among youths, positioning Ilorin as a center for innovation in Nigeria’s knowledge economy.

Tinubu also revealed that the university is among 18 institutions benefiting from a ₦110 billion intervention to expand medical training facilities.

Acknowledging the challenges Nigerians face, he said: “These hardships are short-lived. The foundation we are laying will yield a stronger, more inclusive economy.”

The President added that government had suspended the creation of new tertiary institutions to focus on improving existing ones and maintaining stable academic calendars.

He urged graduates to embrace innovation and responsibility, stressing that “education is too important to be left to government alone.”
