President Bola Tinubu has approved N40 billion for the completion of the abandoned National Library project, reinforcing the government’s commitment to academic and research development in Nigeria.
Key Education Commitments
At the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing in Abuja, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, outlined the government’s plans to transform the education sector, including:
- Integrating 10 million out-of-school children back into the education system.
- Reconstructing 195,000 classrooms nationwide by 2027.
- Installing 28,000 toilets and 22,900 boreholes in schools.
- Building 7,000 new classrooms to improve learning conditions.
- Distributing 103 million textbooks to enhance foundational education.

Boosting Technical & Entrepreneurial Education
The government has also approved N120 billion for a students’ entrepreneurial startup fund, focusing on technical education and vocational training.

National Education Policy Reform
To modernize the education sector, the ministry has initiated reviews of:
- National Education Policy
- National Language Policy
- National Almajiri Policy
With these reforms, the Federal Government aims to strengthen foundational learning, improve education quality, and equip students with practical skills for the future.
