President Bola Ahmed Tinubu touched down in Lagos on Friday, beginning a working visit designed to anchor preparations for Nigeria’s upcoming 65th Independence anniversary.
Earlier in the week, Tinubu was in Ibadan, where he witnessed the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan, underscoring his role in traditional and political ceremonies across the South-West.
While in Lagos, the President will hold high-level meetings with business leaders, senior government officials, and political stakeholders, focusing on the economy, infrastructure, and cultural development.
One of the major highlights of his itinerary is the unveiling of the renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, a project tied to the Independence Day celebrations.
After his engagements in Lagos, Tinubu will proceed to Imo State on September 30, where he is expected to inaugurate major projects executed under Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Analysts say the Lagos visit is both symbolic and strategic, reinforcing Tinubu’s political and cultural ties to the state while setting the tone for the wider Independence Day commemorations.
