The Enugu State Government has unveiled a new digital survey management system aimed at curbing land grabbing, fraudulent transactions, and illegal land allocations across the state.

The initiative was highlighted by the state’s Surveyor-General, Chime Justus, during a one-day workshop organised to sensitise stakeholders on the reforms. Justus described the system as a cornerstone of Governor Peter Mbah’s comprehensive reforms in land administration, designed to promote transparency, restore investor confidence, and strengthen land ownership rights.

He stated that the platform would enhance professional integrity, accelerate approvals, and ensure that survey works are traceable to their rightful owners. “Digital documentation is now the surest protection against fraud and land encroachment,” Justus added, urging property owners to register with the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Enugu State chapter, Surveyor Emmanuel Nnamani, commended the initiative, describing it as a “revolutionary reform” for the surveying profession.

State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Barr. Chimaobi Okorie, noted that the system aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision to position Enugu as a top investment destination, reinforcing the state’s commitment to modernising land administration and protecting citizens’ property rights.
