Fire Destroys Over 10 Shops at Jos Terminus Market

A fire outbreak at the popular Terminus Market in , , has destroyed more than 10 shops despite the quick intervention of emergency responders.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night at the busy market, sending thick smoke into the air as flames spread through several sections of the commercial hub.

Eyewitnesses said the fire rapidly affected shops and goods before emergency teams arrived to control the situation.

An eyewitness, Silas Lawrenzo, said the swift response by firefighters and rescue teams helped prevent the incident from escalating into a larger disaster.

According to him, the quick intervention limited the extent of the damage and stopped the flames from spreading to other parts of the market.

Emergency teams respond quickly

Officials from the , the , the and the were involved in the firefighting operation.

The agencies worked together to contain the blaze and eventually brought the fire under control after several hours of effort.

Although no casualties were recorded, many traders lost goods and properties during the incident.

A visit to the market on Sunday morning showed that several shops had been badly affected, with traders assessing the extent of their losses.

Cause of fire yet to be determined

Authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause of the fire as investigations continue.

Efforts to reach the General Manager of the Jos Main Market, , for comments were unsuccessful as his phone line could not be reached at the time of filing the report.

The incident occurred just days after another fire outbreak destroyed parts of the in the Zawan community in Jos South Local Government Area.

The earlier fire reportedly razed the medical laboratory section of the institution, leaving students distressed.
