The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has confirmed the abduction of six real estate marketers in Oyebola village, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

Ogunlowo, who spoke with our source on Sunday, said the victims were employees of a Lagos-based property firm and were kidnapped during an inspection tour of land owned by the company.

A resident of a nearby community had earlier raised the alarm, reporting that the attack occurred on Friday.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the marketers were on a routine assessment visit when the gunmen struck and whisked them away.

“They brought some marketers from Lagos to inspect the land so they could gather the necessary information to sell the property to interested members of the public,” he said.

“It was during this visit that the six individuals were abducted. The incident happened on Friday, and the command has been on the case since then. We will ensure their safe release.”

The abduction adds to the rising wave of kidnappings across the country. In recent weeks, 38 worshippers in Kwara State and 24 students in Kebbi State were seized and later released.

However, many others remain in captivity, including more than 250 people abducted from St. Mary’s Secondary and Primary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State. During that attack, gunmen reportedly killed a security guard before taking away about 300 students, pupils, and staff. Around 50 students later escaped.

The police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to locate the Ogun victims and bring them home safely.
