Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has inaugurated the Federal Housing Estate road network constructed by the Adamawa State government under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration.
The project, located within the Federal Housing Estate in Girei local government area, includes reinforced concrete drains, culverts, and a 3.5-kilometre stormwater drainage system, designed to improve access, mobility, and flood control within the estate and its surrounding communities.
During the commissioning ceremony, Saraki commended Governor Fintiri for consistent and people-oriented infrastructural development across Adamawa State. He described the governor as a leader of integrity, committed to the welfare and development of his people. Saraki urged residents to continue supporting the administration to enable it to deliver more dividends of democracy.
Governor Fintiri, in his address, said the commissioning went beyond a formal handover, representing a deliberate approach to governance anchored on results, accountability, and service to the people. He noted that the road network would shorten travel times, boost economic activity, and strengthen social and commercial connections within the estate and adjoining communities.
The governor recalled that the project was flagged off in May 2024 as part of the state government’s commitment to addressing long-standing access and mobility challenges in the area. He reiterated that all awarded projects would be completed and that abandoned works would be avoided, emphasizing that infrastructure development remains central to Adamawa State’s future.
Fintiri assured residents that ongoing and future projects across the state would be executed with diligence, integrity, and responsibility, with no community neglected in the development process.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Energy, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, described the road network as a vital internal link for residents, traders, commuters, and service providers within the Federal Housing Estate and its environs. He added that the project has significantly reduced travel time, improved road safety, enhanced property values, and created employment opportunities during construction.
Abubakar commended the contractors for completing the project ahead of schedule and appealed to residents to take ownership of the road by protecting the drainage infrastructure.
The Federal Housing Estate road network project is expected to further stimulate economic activities and improve living standards within Girei local government and surrounding communities. Residents expressed optimism that the project would serve as a benchmark for future infrastructural developments in Adamawa State.
