This decision follows a rigorous selection process, resulting in the selection of only 22 judges out of 89 nominees for available positions.

The approval for Justice Wike’s elevation was granted by Chief Justice Ariwoola on April 2, 2024, and has been forwarded to President Tinubu for formal appointment.

The list of newly appointed justices, obtained by Peoples Gazette, showcases a diverse array of judges from various state and federal high courts across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Representing the North-Central region are Justices Polycarp Tema Kwahar, Ruqayat Ayoola, Eneche Eleojo, Asmara Akanbi Yusuf, Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, and Abdu Dogo.

Justice Fadahu Umaru of Borno State stands as the lone appointee from the North-East region.

In the North-West, Justices Ishaq Mohammed Sani, Zainab Bage Abubakar, and Abdulaziz M. Ankara have been appointed, while the South-East welcomes Justices Nnamdi Okwy Dimga Victoria, Toochukwu Nwoye, Henry Aja-Onu Njoku, Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo, and Ngozika N Okaisabor to the appellate bench.

From the South-South region, Justices Ntong Festus Ntong, Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi, and Eberechi Suzette Wike have been recommended for promotion.

Lastly, the South-West region sees the appointment of Justices Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo, Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi, Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola, and Bayo Ademola Taiwo.
