The 16-unit two-bedroom accommodation for Senior Ratings includes modern residential flats designed to improve comfort and living standards for personnel and their families.

Supporting infrastructure includes:

• 2,000 square metres of interlocked roads and parking space
• 70,000 litres of water storage capacity
• Landscaped green areas for environmental improvement

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Darma, made this known during a familiarisation visit to the Renewed Hope Housing Project for military personnel and the Renewed Hope City Housing Estate in Karsana, Abuja.

According to him, the project comprises 1,550 housing units supported by essential infrastructure, including road networks, water supply systems, schools, and recreational facilities.

“The visit gives us the opportunity to assess the level of work on site. This is a major legacy initiative for military personnel, and we are impressed with the progress and supporting infrastructure in place,” he said.

The minister emphasised the importance of timely completion, assuring that the ministry would maintain strict monitoring and supervision to ensure quality, durability, and compliance with approved standards.

He reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places high priority on affordable and sustainable housing under the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the ministry remains committed to fulfilling its mandate.

Darma explained that the military housing project is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership with Brains and Hammers Limited, noting that construction has reached about 70 percent completion.

He added that developers have projected delivery within three months, ahead of the seven-month contractual timeline, while the 2,744-unit Karsana Housing Estate is also nearing completion.

The minister commended key financiers, including the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and Family Homes Funds Limited, for their support, noting that the project is expected to generate over 15,000 jobs for skilled and unskilled workers.

He also praised the consultants and contractors for their professionalism and urged them to maintain high construction standards and adopt a strong maintenance culture to sustain the initiative.

Darma reaffirmed his commitment to building on existing achievements in the housing sector, pledging to expand access to affordable housing and promote sustainable urban development nationwide.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has handed over 30 newly constructed housing units to soldiers in Lagos, reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s commitment to personnel welfare and operational readiness.

The housing units, located within the Marda Barracks in Yaba, were officially allocated to soldiers of the rank of corporal and below during a brief handover ceremony attended by senior military officers and stakeholders.

Represented at the event by the Commander, Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CCEME), Maj. Gen. Adeyinka Ayodeji Adereti, the Army chief described the project as a direct reflection of his command philosophy, which prioritises the well-being, morale, and efficiency of troops.
