A statement by Mr. Stanley Olisa, the Spokesman o Air Peace, said that Onyema gave the commendation on Monday, while hosting the travel content creator at the airline’s head office in Lagos.

Onyema insisted that Nubi made the country proud with the effort, coming at a time the economy was down.

Pelumi arrived in Lagos yesterday after driving in a Peugeot 107.

Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Sanwo-Olu, announced the meeting on his social media page. He stated, “Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu receives Pelumi Nubi @peluminubi_, a United Kingdom-based Nigerian that embarked on a solo road trip from London to Lagos, today at the Lagos House, Marina.”

Pelumi, accompanied by her dad, mum, Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Mrs. @abikedabiri, the Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, and other family members and team members, began her journey on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, and successfully arrived in Lagos on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Nubi, a travel content creator, embarked on her solo trip in a car on January 30, 2024, and arrived at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on Sunday morning.

28-year-old Nubi’s father, Timothy Nubi, is a Professor in the Department of Estate Management, UNILAG; and the Founder/National Coordinator, Ideal Habitat Initiative.

Ogunsola described Nubi’s feat as the resilience of an average Nigerian.

At an ongoing reception in UNILAG, Ogunsola added, “I welcome everyone and Pelumi the woman with the indomitable spirit. For Pelumi to live London and spend hours on the road, she went through 17 countries. She embodies the Nigerian spirit. She is the second person to do it.

“Nigerians are courageous. She was not afraid of racism and things that might be on the way. I want all of us here to know that there is nothing you cannot do. All that is stopping you is in your mind.

“Queen Amina of Zaria took to war and conquered, Captain Chinyere Kalu was the first female pilot, among others. Pelumi has shown us that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Pelumi, we are proud of you!”
