The Sokoto State Police Command urged citizens to remain alert due to ongoing security concerns.

According to the police, festive periods often attract criminal activity. Therefore, residents must stay vigilant and report any suspicious movement.

Police Intensify Patrol and Surveillance

To strengthen safety, the Commissioner of Police directed officers to increase patrols across the state. Security teams will also carry out intelligence-led operations in key locations.

In addition, area commanders and divisional officers have received instructions to maintain a strong presence. This move aims to prevent crime and ensure peaceful celebrations.

Heightened Security Amid Ongoing Threats

Nigeria continues to face multiple security challenges, especially in the North-West. As a result, authorities consider festive periods as high-risk moments that require extra vigilance.

The Sokoto Eid security warning reflects broader concerns about public safety. It also highlights the need for cooperation between security agencies and residents.

Residents Urged to Stay Alert and Law-Abiding

Police advised residents to remain law-abiding during the celebrations. They also encouraged people to avoid actions that could disrupt public peace.

Furthermore, citizens should monitor their surroundings, especially in crowded places such as mosques and markets. Prompt reporting of suspicious activity remains critical.

Security Measures Target Peaceful Celebrations

The police say the goal is to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration across Sokoto State. Increased patrols and surveillance will continue before, during, and after the festivities.

Meanwhile, authorities reaffirm their commitment to protecting lives and property. They also urged community leaders to support efforts to maintain peace.

The Sokoto Eid security warning highlights the importance of public awareness during festive periods. As insecurity persists, both residents and security agencies must work together.

The ranking is based on headline inflation, showing where prices of essential goods and services rose the least.

10. Jigawa – 16.3%

Inflation dropped from 23.1% to 16.3%, driven by government agricultural programmes like the Rice Millionaire Project and Special Agro-Processing Zones.

9. Akwa Ibom – 16.3%

Down from 20.7% in August, with food inflation at 9%. A new ₦695 billion budget and food security committee helped stabilise prices.

8. Imo – 15.8%

Improved security and stable housing costs reduced inflation from 18.3% to 15.8%, with food inflation at 12.4%.

7. Ebonyi – 14.8%

Inflation eased from 21.2% to 14.8%. Despite strong farm output, transport and distribution costs remain high.

6. Bayelsa – 14.8%

Inflation dropped from 23.8% but food inflation rose to 21.9% due to high import dependence.

5. Sokoto – 14%

Inflation fell sharply from 22.5%. Salary support to civil servants helped ease short-term pressures.

4. Enugu – 12.4%

Transport and rent relief cut inflation from 14.2%. Fertilizer distribution supported food supply.

3. Bauchi – 12.4%

Inflation declined from 15.3%, food inflation to 2.8%, supported by better roads, fertilizer subsidies, and grain reserves.

2. Niger – 11.8%

Inflation halved from 25.5%. Flood relief, road repairs, and food aid helped stabilise prices.

1. Anambra – 9.3%

Now Nigeria’s most affordable state, down from 14.2%. Market digitalisation and rural water projects reduced costs.

Overall, agricultural expansion, infrastructure upgrades, and relief programmes are helping many states achieve lower living costs despite national inflation pressures.

This initiative targets doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health workers. Its main goal is to strengthen healthcare delivery in rural communities across the state.

According to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Faruk Abubakar, the policy follows a detailed needs assessment. The findings showed a serious imbalance in the distribution of healthcare workers. While urban centres have more than enough professionals, rural areas lack even the basics.

“Too many of our professionals are concentrated in urban areas,” said Dr. Abubakar. “This policy is designed to correct that imbalance.”

To ensure the success of the initiative, the Sokoto State Government will offer several incentives. These include a 10% salary bonus, upgraded health facilities in rural areas, and improved security for posted workers.

Dr. Abubakar emphasized that the program aims to make rural service both rewarding and sustainable. “We’re not just sending people to remote communities; we’re making those places attractive to work in,” he said.

The rural service policy is one component of a broader healthcare reform strategy led by Governor Ahmad Aliyu. One notable achievement under this reform is the alignment of state-employed medical salaries with those of federal workers. This salary adjustment has led to many healthcare professionals withdrawing their resignation letters and choosing to remain in public service.

“These reforms are laying a foundation for a healthier, more equitable future for Sokoto State,” Dr. Abubakar added.

Sokoto’s new rural service scheme reflects a strong commitment to solving the healthcare access gap in underserved areas. With strategic incentives and long-term reforms, the state aims to ensure that every citizen receives quality medical care regardless of location.
