The United Kingdom has announced new increases in visa, Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), and citizenship application fees, with the revised rates set to take effect from April 8, 2026.
The changes will affect a wide range of applicants, including tourists, students, skilled workers, and individuals seeking permanent residency or citizenship.
Under the new structure, the ETA fee will rise to £20. The authorisation, required for visa-exempt travellers entering the UK, has seen steady increases since its introduction in 2023, when it was initially priced at £10. It remains valid for two years.
Visitor visa fees are also set to increase across different durations. A six-month visa will rise from £127 to £135, while the two-year visa will increase from £475 to £506. The five-year and 10-year visas will also see adjustments, rising to £903 and £1,128 respectively.
Applicants for work and study visas will face higher charges as well. The Skilled Worker visa fee for stays of up to three years will increase to £819, while applications exceeding three years will cost £1,618. The Student visa fee will also rise to £558.
Settlement-related applications are among the most affected. The fee for Indefinite Leave to Remain will increase to £2,064, while naturalisation fees will rise to £1,709. Adult registration will remain unchanged at £1,540.
However, there is a slight relief for families, as the cost of child registration will decrease to £1,000.
The UK government said the adjustments reflect ongoing reviews of immigration-related costs, with the increases varying across different categories.
