At least 15 people have been confirmed dead and over 500 households displaced following coordinated attacks on multiple communities in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The violence, which occurred midweek, targeted the villages of Kwalajiya, Talba, and Fasnaki. Residents were reportedly working on nearby farms when the assaults began, prompting panic and a mass exodus to safer locations. The attackers are said to have looted shops and set fire to homes, food storage facilities, and small businesses, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
In the aftermath, hundreds of displaced persons have taken shelter in Sardaunan Tangaza Model School in Tangaza town, while others fled to surrounding settlements such as Ayama. Many abandoned their homes and farmlands in fear of further violence.
Emergency officials who visited the affected areas as part of a joint assessment mission confirmed the casualty figures and displacement level. Although humanitarian aid has not yet been fully deployed, efforts are underway to evaluate the situation and coordinate relief interventions in collaboration with local authorities.
Authorities continue to monitor the security situation while exploring ways to address the humanitarian needs of those affected and restore stability to the region.
