Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to Oba Akintoye Felix Adeoye as the new Olu-Oke of Oke-Igbo in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area.
The governor, who spoke at the ceremony on Tuesday, said the event ended years of legal and traditional disputes over the Oke-Igbo throne.
He explained that the stool became vacant after a court nullified the appointment of the late Oba Babajide Lawrence Oluwole, ruling that he was not from the rightful ruling house.
Aiyedatiwa praised the kingmakers for following due process and urged the new monarch to promote peace, unity, and development in his community.
He said, “Kabiyesi, you are now a father to all. Forget the issues of the past and work for the progress of Oke-Igbo.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security and grassroots development, noting that his government had invested in the Amotekun Corps, improved roads, renovated health centres, and recruited more health workers.
He also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies, saying security should be everyone’s responsibility.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, said the state executive council approved Oba Adeoye’s appointment on October 27, 2025.
The Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government, Adeboye Adebare, described the event as historic, thanking the governor for resolving the long-standing dispute.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Adeoye promised to promote unity and reconciliation among the people. He also announced ₦50,000 each for 100 women traders as part of an empowerment initiative.
The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, and community leaders.
