Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Obafemi Hamzat, has unveiled a 100-point manifesto outlining his plans for the state.

Hamzat presented the manifesto, titled The Lagos Promise, at an event in Lagos on Friday. It focuses on healthcare, education, job creation, infrastructure, youth empowerment, security and inclusive governance.

He said the document rests on seven pillars: people first, renewal, opportunity, machinery of government, inclusion, security and resilience, and everyday dignity.

The deputy governor said his proposed administration would operate on the principles of respect, work and truth. He added that he wanted to earn residents’ trust by explaining his vision and demonstrating his readiness to lead Lagos.

“I stand before you today, not simply to ask for your vote, but to earn your trust, to share my vision for Lagos, to explain what I believe that we must do differently, and to demonstrate why I’m prepared to serve you,” he said.

Hamzat Highlights Contributions To Lagos Development

Hamzat said his childhood experiences influenced his understanding of residents’ everyday challenges, including poor drainage and unreliable electricity.

He also highlighted some of his contributions to the state government, including developing Lagos’ digital map and residents’ register, introducing single-digit mortgage rates and constructing inner roads.

Rail, Housing And Healthcare Feature In Manifesto

The APC candidate pledged to complete Lagos’ rail lines and improve road and water transportation.

He also promised to expand access to affordable housing, strengthen security and upgrade healthcare services across the state’s 57 local government areas and local council development areas.

Other commitments include improving education, expanding skills development, creating jobs and supporting small businesses.

Hamzat also pledged to strengthen waste management, improve flood prevention measures and protect coastal communities.

He said his broader ambition was to build a safer, more prosperous and inclusive Lagos, with residents at the centre of government decisions.

Hamzat Promises Independent Performance Monitoring

The deputy governor also proposed establishing an independent body to monitor his administration’s performance and assess progress on its manifesto commitments.

He said the proposed independent performance council would review government delivery and report directly to Lagos residents.

“An independent performance council will review delivery and report directly to you as Lagosians,” he said.

Hamzat added that the government would publish an annual report comparing every promise with its actual outcome.

“And every year, one document will set every promise against the result. Where we miss a target, that report will name it.

“That report will give us reason and set a new date,” he said.

He referenced a proverb often repeated by Chinua Achebe about the importance of allowing people to tell their own stories.

“So, the Hamzat compact makes every Lagosian a historian of my government. It puts the pen in your hands. You check it, you track it, and you measure it,” he said.
