Abdullahi Usman, Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has resigned from his position.
The decision, which followed “deep personal reflection,” was entirely voluntary and not influenced by boardroom disputes, leadership crises, or external pressure. During his tenure, Usman reportedly strengthened corporate governance, institutional discipline, and operational stability at NAHCON.
Insiders revealed that Usman chose a quiet exit, believing it served the best interests of the commission. As of this report, neither the federal government nor NAHCON has issued an official statement.
Usman was appointed NAHCON chairman in August 2024 by President Bola Tinubu, succeeding Jalal Arabi, who was removed from office amid an EFCC and ICPC investigation into the alleged mismanagement of the N90 billion presidential Hajj subsidy for 2024
