There was panic in the Ota-Ona axis of Ikorodu, Lagos on Monday following the collapse of an uncompleted two-storey structure, reportedly trapping several individuals under the wreckage.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred near the Mobil Filling Station (formerly Bugon) in the bustling residential area.
A community member, Rasheed Fatuga, who first raised the alarm online, said that multiple individuals were feared caught beneath the debris.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene as efforts began immediately to locate and extract those buried. At least five individuals have been pulled out alive as of press time, though the total number of victims remains uncertain.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collapse, and structural assessments are still pending. Residents have gathered around the site, anxiously awaiting updates as rescue workers continue operations into the night.
The Lagos State emergency agencies are on-site, working to prevent further casualties while urging the public to stay clear of the danger zone.
