A Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the bail hearing of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El‑Rufai to Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The hearing was paused on Tuesday amid heightened security and public interest in his ongoing corruption trial.
El‑Rufai is facing a 10‑count charge related to alleged conversion and illegal possession of public funds and money laundering. After proceedings at the State High Court, the case was transferred to the Federal High Court, where his bail application was due for hearing.
Counsel for the ex‑governor, Ukpong Akpan, confirmed the adjournment shortly after the session but declined to offer comments. El‑Rufai was escorted from the courthouse by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) under tight security.
The court is expected to resume bail proceedings on Wednesday, following the adjournment.
