Dangote Cement has screened 1,500 truck drivers as part of an intensive safety and fitness initiative, confirmed during the company’s Annual Drivers Retreat in Ilaro, Ogun State.

Group Managing Director Arvind Pathak explained that the exercise, which all drivers must undergo, is essential given the challenging road conditions across Nigeria.

He outlined the rigorous process: valid Class G driver’s licence, background verification for drivers and their guarantors, and comprehensive medical checks vision, blood pressure, BMI, random blood sugar, and screenings for drugs and alcohol.

“In the past two months alone, over 1,500 prospective drivers have successfully completed this process. Only those who met all required standards were engaged and certified to operate any Dangote Group vehicles,” Pathak said.

The company also enforces mandatory pre-trip medical assessments conducted by licensed healthcare professionals.
