Residents of Edo State are set to benefit from improved mobility as the newly established Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. gears up to begin full operations on June 27, 2025. The development was confirmed by Governor Monday Okpebholo during a recent on-the-spot inspection of the transport facility in Edo South.
The Governor, who visited the New Edo Line terminal to assess its readiness, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation. “The vehicles are ready, and the setup looks promising. We’re checking everything to ensure a smooth start,” he remarked during the inspection.
Accompanying the Governor was Mr. Oligbe Henshaw, Managing Director of the Edo State Transport Authority, who reaffirmed that the terminal infrastructure—ranging from partitioned sections to CCTV coverage and a dedicated control room—would be completed ahead of the operational kickoff date.
“This terminal marks a new chapter in Edo’s transportation sector. By June 27, we’ll begin offering services across key routes,” Henshaw said, emphasizing the project’s long-term vision of safer, efficient public transit.
Governor Okpebholo’s visit wasn’t limited to the bus terminal. He also inspected several critical road projects across the state. At Sapele Road, a vital route linking Edo and Delta States, he urged contractors to hasten the pace of work to ease the traffic burden faced by commuters. The contractor, CBC Group, represented by its CEO Li Ou Fu, assured the Governor that major portions would be completed within two weeks.
Other stops on the tour included Temboga Road and Palace Road, where the Governor reiterated his commitment to strengthening Edo’s transportation infrastructure as part of broader development plans.
With the formal launch of Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. just weeks away, commuters in the region can anticipate a more reliable, organized transport system that aims to enhance both inter-city and intra-city travel.
