The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially launched its structure in Jigawa State, appointing former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel, as the new state coordinator.

Speaking at the inauguration, Gumel outlined the party’s commitment to building an inclusive, equitable political movement and called on residents to join efforts in shaping a more prosperous future. He said the ADC is fast becoming a credible platform for Nigerians disillusioned with the current administration.

The transition follows the voluntary resignation of the former state executive council led by Hon. Kabiru Hussaini. All local government executives across Jigawa’s 27 LGAs were also dissolved to make way for a fresh coalition-backed leadership team.

Gumel pledged to promote unity and political discipline, urging members to avoid divisive rhetoric. He said the ADC’s mission is not merely to challenge the ruling party but to establish a people-focused governance alternative.

The party’s recent moves in Jigawa are part of broader national coalition efforts aimed at restructuring opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections. With new entrants from other parties and increased grassroots mobilisation, the ADC says it is positioning itself to contest power meaningfully at both state and national levels.
