The Federal Government has approved $1 billion (₦1.4 trillion) to modernise the Apapa and TinCan Island ports in Lagos.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, announced this at the CILT Nigeria Conference, saying the project will enhance cargo handling, efficiency, and transparency.

He said the plan aligns with the ministry’s 10-year blue economy strategy and will extend to ports outside Lagos.

Oyetola added that the government is encouraging private investment through PPPs and regulatory reforms.
