The Federal Government has fulfilled its pledge to members of the Super Eagles by allocating houses and plots of land to the players following their performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the players have received official certificates for the housing units and land promised by President Bola Tinubu. According to the federation, the documents were presented to the players at the team’s camp in Fez, Morocco, on Monday.
Nigeria finished second at the continental tournament, which was concluded in 2024, after a 2–1 defeat to host nation Côte d’Ivoire in the final match.
Following the team’s return from the competition, President Tinubu hosted the players and officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he honoured each member of the squad with the national award of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
At the event, the president also announced the allocation of a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory and a housing unit to every player, in recognition of their resilience and performance at the tournament, which earned Nigeria a place on the continental podium.
The fulfilment of the pledge has been described as part of the administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence and motivating national sports teams to continue representing the country with pride on the international stage.
