In an official clarification released by the Director of University Relations, Prof. Saeedat Aliyu, the institution affirmed that its academic, non-teaching, and technical personnel receive monthly compensation fully equivalent to the salary structures operational across federal universities nationwide.
This administrative rejoinder was issued following an online news publication that characterized the Kwara State Government’s ₦100,000 minimum wage rollout as a mere publicity stunt that failed to reach campus employees. Rebuffing the accusation, KWASU clarified that the specific individuals cited in the controversial report are not formal members of the university staff. Instead, the institution explained that they are external, part-time supervisors contracted to oversee privately owned student hostels located around the university community. Consequently, these individuals fall outside the university’s official payroll, making any wage comparisons with permanent staff entirely inaccurate.
Furthermore, the university management highlighted the robust institutional backing it continues to receive from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
