The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has announced the temporary closure of all public parks across the state for essential maintenance and upgrades.
The closures, scheduled to take place from January 12 to January 31, 2026, will affect several popular parks managed by LASPARK.
The decision follows the increased usage of the parks during the recent festive season, prompting the agency to carry out necessary repairs and improvements. Among the affected parks are Ndubisi Kanu Park, Alausa JJT Park, Dr. Finnih Abayomi Park, and Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park, among others.
In a statement issued on January 9, LASPARK emphasized that the closures are part of its efforts to ensure the parks remain safe, clean, and enjoyable for both residents and visitors. The maintenance work will include landscaping, facility repairs, and upgrades to promote environmental sustainability, wellness, and relaxation.
LASPARK reassured the public that all parks will reopen promptly after the maintenance period, restoring access to these vital green spaces for leisure and recreation. The agency also affirmed its ongoing commitment to maintaining well-kept parks across Lagos, contributing to the city’s overall environmental health.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about updates regarding the reopening of parks.
