Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially reopened the reconstructed Hotel Presidential, describing the renewed landmark as a “homecoming for history.”

The hotel originally commissioned 62 years ago by former Eastern Region premier Dr. Michael Okpara had been abandoned for approximately 15 years. Today’s unveiling fulfills Mbah’s campaign pledge to restore moribund assets and propel the state’s economy forward.

Mbah praised the building’s historical significance, noting that it once symbolized the region’s elegance, resilience, and enterprise. Over time, neglect turned it into “an affront to our pride,” he observed.

“Today is more than an opening, it is the renewal of Enugu’s confidence,” the governor declared. His administration remains committed to converting dormant assets into engines of growth.
