The Nigerian Public Service Writing Style Manual has been officially launched to bring consistency and professionalism to communication across all federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Presented in Abuja to the Head of the Civil Service, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the 148-page manual includes six chapters and 55 practical templates. It offers clear guidance on formatting, referencing, digital communication, and correct usage of national symbols like the Coat of Arms and National Flag.

According to Mrs. Walson-Jack, the manual is a vital tool for reforming public service delivery. She said it will eliminate ambiguities in official writing and promote a more citizen-focused approach to governance.

A phased implementation plan is in place, beginning with stakeholder validation and followed by Presidential endorsement. The manual will be integrated into civil service training and reviewed every five years.

The initiative supports the Federal Government’s goal of building a world-class civil service, enhancing trust and transparency through clear, standardised communication.
