Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has launched the rehabilitation of critical sections along the Auchi–Igarra–Ibillo Road in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, marking a significant step toward revitalizing transportation and commerce in the region.

According to a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor approved the restoration of more than 45 deteriorated segments of the federal road, which has long hindered movement and trade in the area.

The governor’s initiative aims to enhance economic activity by improving access between several communities in Akoko-Edo and neighboring states, including Kogi and Ondo.

The Auchi–Igarra–Ibillo route, a strategic corridor in northern Edo, has suffered years of neglect. While it falls under federal jurisdiction, the state government has stepped in due to its importance to local mobility and regional commerce.

In a related development, the state also recently completed construction of the Ikiran-Oke–Ikakhumoh Road, another key route within Akoko-Edo, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal in rural and semi-urban areas.

Governor Okpebholo’s administration has made the rehabilitation of neglected roadways a cornerstone of its efforts to improve logistics, drive investment, and reconnect isolated communities across Edo State.
