The Lagos State Police Command has denied reports alleging that its officers attacked residents during a government-led demolition in Oworonshoki.

In a statement on Sunday, Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi described the viral claims as “false and mischievous,” saying they were intended to mislead the public. She clarified that the demolition was handled by authorised state agencies after due process and prior notice to affected residents.

Adebisi said police officers were deployed only to maintain order, not to intimidate or assault anyone. “At no time did our officers engage in violence or harassment,” she stated, adding that compensation had already been paid to legitimate occupants.

The command urged the public to disregard the reports and verify information before sharing, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, human rights, and lawful conduct under Commissioner CP Olohundare Jimoh.
