Seven Rescued in Bauchi Building Collapse

Seven construction workers were trapped on Monday when an uncompleted storey building collapsed along Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street in the Bauchi metropolis, triggering panic among residents and passersby.

The incident occurred around 3pm, drawing emergency responders and onlookers to the scene.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Director of the Bauchi State Fire Service, Dauda Pali, said the agency received a distress call and immediately deployed rescue personnel.

“We received a distress call around 3pm that a building had collapsed at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street, GRA Bauchi. On arrival, we confirmed the incident and swiftly commenced rescue operations,” Pali said.

He disclosed that all seven trapped builders were rescued alive and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Pali added that an investigation would be launched to determine the cause of the collapse and urged construction companies to adhere strictly to safety and structural standards to prevent future incidents.
