… Governor Ahmad Aliyu Honoured for Landmark Housing and Infrastructure Projects in Sokoto State
In a night of celebration, recognition, and vision, His Excellency Governor Ahmad Aliyu, PhD, Executive Governor of Sokoto State, emerged winner of the Infrastructure Governor Award (North West) at the Best of AIHS 2025 Dinner and Awards Night held at the prestigious Rockview Royale Hotel, Abuja. The award is a recognition of his administration’s exceptional strides in housing delivery, infrastructure development, and rural transformation across Sokoto State.
Governor Aliyu’s leadership has ushered in a new era of progressive infrastructure, focused on addressing critical development challenges while laying the groundwork for sustainable growth. His administration’s commitment to impactful projects and people-driven governance was reflected in his keynote remarks, where he highlighted the milestones that earned Sokoto State national attention.
One of the Governor’s flagship initiatives is the Sokoto New City Housing Project, a transformative urban development effort aimed at reducing the state’s housing deficit while enhancing modern, inclusive living standards. The project, which includes 500 modern housing units, is more than a construction plan it is a deliberate investment in human dignity, economic stability, and long-term prosperity for the people of Sokoto.
“In partnership with relevant stakeholders, we laid the foundation for the Sokoto New City Housing Project to reflect our commitment to meeting the housing needs of our growing population,” Governor Aliyu stated. “It is a bold step toward inclusive urban renewal and economic empowerment.”
In the same vein, Governor Aliyu commissioned the 7.7-kilometre Gande–Male–Gwahitto–Fako Road, executed under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). This vital roadway is set to significantly enhance rural connectivity and increase agricultural output across Binji and Silame Local Government Areas, directly impacting farmers, traders, and rural dwellers.
“These projects are not just about roads and buildings. They are about creating opportunities, opening up markets, and connecting our people to prosperity,” the Governor noted during his address.
The award highlights the administration’s broader commitment to infrastructure that empowers individuals, policies that uplift communities, and governance that delivers real value. Governor Aliyu’s inclusive leadership style and dedication to measurable results have earned him accolades both within and beyond the North West region.
Organized as the crowning event of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) 2025, the Best of AIHS Awards spotlighted innovation, commitment, and excellence in housing and infrastructure leadership across Africa. Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s recognition as Infrastructure Governor (North West) is a tribute to the transformational progress his government continues to bring to Sokoto State.
