Nigeria’s telecoms industry is set for a major shake-up as T2 has entered into a multi-million dollar partnership with global technology leader Huawei to modernize its core network and relaunch its services.
The deal, signed in Lagos, is part of T2’s ambitious strategy to reposition itself as a key player in Nigeria’s fast-evolving digital economy. The company says the collaboration will not only boost capacity, speed, and reliability but also lay the foundation for smarter, future-ready telecom services across the country.
Future-Proofing Nigeria’s Connectivity
Under the agreement, Huawei will deploy its cutting-edge technology to overhaul T2’s network infrastructure, enhancing resilience and security. The upgrade is central to T2’s four-phase roadmap Stabilization, Modernization, Transformation, and Growth—designed to deliver a more seamless customer experience and support next-generation services.
Obafemi Banigbe, Chief Executive Officer of T2, described the partnership as a turning point for the company.
“This agreement is more than a contract—it’s a catalyst. Huawei has been a trusted partner on our journey, and this next chapter reaffirms our shared commitment to innovation, reliability, and excellence. With Huawei by our side, we’re not just upgrading our network, we’re future-proofing it.”
Huawei’s Pledge
Speaking on behalf of Huawei, Jiang Junyong, CEO of Huawei Nigeria Carrier Business, said the collaboration aligns with both companies’ vision for a stronger, more resilient telecom ecosystem in Nigeria.
“We are proud to provide T2 with world-class solutions that will help build a high-performance core network, capable of supporting next-generation services and sustainable growth,” Junyong said.
Strategic Comeback
The deal marks a critical milestone in T2’s market re-entry, coinciding with a refreshed brand identity and renewed focus on customer-driven innovation. With the network upgrade set for completion in the coming months, the company is positioning itself for expanded coverage, stronger service quality, and a new era of competitiveness in Nigeria’s telecoms sector.
Industry analysts say the partnership could reshape competition in the market, giving Nigerians access to faster, smarter, and more reliable digital services.
