Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that a significant portion of the proposed ₦1.78 trillion 2025 FCT statutory budget will go towards completing 14 ongoing road infrastructure projects across Abuja and its satellite towns.
The announcement came during Wike’s appearance before the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on FCT, where he presented the budget proposal on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the minister, ₦1.28 trillion—representing approximately 72.3% of the total budget—has been designated for capital projects, while ₦494.1 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure, accounting for 27.7%.
Wike noted that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) would be responsible for executing the road projects. The FCDA is set to receive ₦801.5 billion, while the STDD will be allocated ₦137 billion for infrastructure works.
Key projects scheduled for completion in 2025 include:
Roads B6 and B12 in the Central Area
Full-scope development of Arterial Road N20 linking Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX)
Engineering infrastructure in Guzape, Wuye, and Maitama II Districts
Extension of the Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX) from Southern Parkway (S8/S9) to Ring Road II
Development of FCT Highway 105 (Kuje Road) connecting Airport Expressway to Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), with a spur to Kyami District
Northern Parkway construction from Ring Road II to Ring Road III (6.2 km)
Completion of Arterial Road N20 from Road N5, and rehabilitation of the Old Keffi Road
Development of Arterial Road N1 from Wuye to Ring Road II
Access roads to public bus terminals
Dualisation and upgrading of the Ushafa-War College Road and its connecting roads
Construction of the Pai-Gomani Road in Kwali Area Council
Dualisation of the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road
Wike emphasized that all 14 projects are expected to be completed before the end of the 2025 fiscal year. He added that the planned expansion and rehabilitation works will help ease traffic congestion and shorten travel times in and around the FCT.
The initiative, he said, is part of the administration’s broader effort to enhance infrastructure, promote efficient transportation, and improve the overall urban experience for residents and visitors to the capital.
