The Lagos State Government has reiterated the mandatory requirement for all property owners, developers, and residents to obtain planning permits before initiating any construction or building-related activity.
Speaking during a recent briefing, the General Manager of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), Kehinde Osinaike, stressed that no development should proceed without official authorization. According to him, the permit system is in place to ensure that building projects align with the city’s broader urban planning goals.
Osinaike noted that the enforcement of planning regulations is crucial to achieving orderly development and maintaining safety across communities. He emphasized that the rules apply to all types of developments, regardless of scale or location.
“Securing a planning permit is not just a procedural step—it is a legal and necessary obligation for anyone looking to build or modify a property in Lagos,” he said.
The planning authority further urged stakeholders to adhere strictly to existing regulations, warning that failure to comply could lead to sanctions or demolition of unapproved structures.
By reinforcing this directive, the state government aims to promote a more organized urban environment, prevent illegal developments, and support sustainable growth in Africa’s most populous city.
