The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reduced the country’s benchmark interest rate to 27.00 per cent, marking the first adjustment in 2025.

CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, announced the decision on Tuesday during a press briefing following the 302nd meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in Abuja.

“The Committee resolved to lower the monetary policy rate by 50 basis points to 27 per cent,” Cardoso stated.

This move follows three consecutive pauses in rate adjustments and reflects the steady disinflation trend observed across the economy.
